EAGLE RUGBY
First established as a club sport in 1999, St. Thomas rugby has continued to grow and evolve into a local and regional powerhouse. Now a full Varsity sport, STHS rugby has won 2 City wide championships, 3 state championships, 4 Western regional championships and USA National championship finalists 4 times (2002,2007.2008 & 2009) finishing 10th, 8th, 4th and 7th in the USA.
The Eagles compete in the Texas High School Rugby Conference, Houston District and play high school teams locally and throughout Texas. The Eagles have been the dominant team in the local area for the last 4 years.
Currently, three teams are offered at St. Thomas, freshmen, JV and varsity. The coaching staff encourages all interested players, regardless of experience, to participate.
Practice begins in mid-November, with the regular season commencing in late January and running through mid-May. The teams practice on our beautiful field turf stadium pitch and convenient local facilities. Strength, speed, agility and fitness training are managed by our highly professional staff. Varsity games are played primarily on Friday nights in Granger Stadium. |
