I didn't get a release form in my packet?

There wasn't one in the new packet handed out at the parent meeting. When you are dropped off on Tuesday April 6th for Day 1 of Clinic, your parent will need to come in and sign a copy so we can have them on file. If you already have one please bring it.

What do I do with my Grade Sheet?

Take it to all your teachers, have them give you the grade from the last quarter, sign their signature and leave any comments.

How many judges will be at tryouts, what are we being judged on and how are we scored?

4 Professional Judges. You will be judged on Gymnastic Skills, Jumps, Communication Skills, Motion Technique and Dance Technique. (There will be no stunting). Each category is worth 10 points so the max you can get is 50 points.

What if I can't tumble?

If you cant tumble, do not make tryouts your first attempt. Make sure you give 110% in all other areas to make up for the "Gymnastic" score. If you can, please throw something you are comfortable with and have confidence in landing.

Why aren't we stunting at tryouts?

I do not feel this is something I need to see at tryouts. Since safety is my main concern I do not feel comfortable throwing a stunt group together after only 3 days. We will work these skills this summer in time to be ready for camp.

What should I wear to tryouts?

Red Shorts, White T-shirt or tank top, White bow and clean shoes

Can my mom come to Tryout Clinic and record me?

No, you may bring your camera or use you phone to record the material. I will send you the music or you may bring a blank cd to have the music recorded for the dance. Clinic is closed as well as tryouts.

If I don't make Varsity can I cheer for JV?

No. All juniors and seniors will be competing for a spot on Varsity and JV will be comprised of sophomores. If you don't make either team, work on your skills and come back next year.

How many girls are you taking for each squad?

I will determine the number of girls on each squad by the natural break in the judges' scores.

Are we trying out in groups?

Yes. You will come in as a group of 3-4 and peform the chant and dance. Then you will come in individually and peform your gymnastic skills, jumps, and cheer.

Are you taking a certain number of girls from each school?

No, we will all be one big happy family. At tryouts, you will be known by your number, not your name or what school you are from.

Will we be going to summer camp and when?

Yes. We will be attending UCA summer camp. The dates will be announced once you've made the squad so you can plan your summer vacation around these dates.

When and where are practices?

Practices with be Tues, Wed, Thur from 6-8:00pm at the STHS Gym

Why are we practicing so much?

So we can take this program to the next level and get it the recognition it deserves.

Can my mom or boyfriend come watch me at practice?

No, practices are closed. When we have big performances or getting ready for competition, we will have Parent Showoffs. At that time, family and friends are more than welcome to come watch

What if I have a doctor's appt or a wedding to be in?

You will need to fill out a Request of Absence from Coach no later than 24 hours in advance and have it approved. Vacations need to be requested a week in advance and approved as well.

What if I'm not good with criticism and sometimes people telling me what to do hurts my feelings?

This is not the place for you. I need you to be tough and willing to accept constructive criticsm when it is given.

What time do I have to be at the games and do we cheer at away games?

For all home games, I want you there one hour prior and twenty minutes before the bus departs for away games. Once you have made the team I will give you the schedule of which away games you will be required to attend.

Will we compete?

Yes. However, this is not my main concern. Competition will be a reward for a job well done during the year. Our job is to promote school spirit and cheer hard for every sport. Then, we will work hard on a competition routine and hopefully bring back a National Title.

How can I contact the coach?

Via email or by phone. Leave me a message and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
